Charm City Scholarships

The Psi Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, is pleased to offer merit and service-based scholarships to high school Seniors attending Baltimore City Public Schools, giving priority consideration to students who reside in East Baltimore. The following scholarships will be awarded to deserving students to offset the rising costs of higher education, including tuition and fees and textbooks:

The Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Founders’ Scholarship ($1500.00)

o Must have a minimum cumulative 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale
o Must be a first-generation female graduating senior
o Demonstrates leadership and service to the East Baltimore community
o Accepted and enrolled into a four-year historically black college or university in Fall 2018

The Lucy Diggs Slowe Scholarship ($1,000.00)

o Must be a graduating class Salutatorian (Ranked #2), male or female
o Must have a minimum 3.0-3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale
o Demonstrates leadership and service to the East Baltimore community
o Accepted and enrolled into four-year college or university in Fall 2018

The Charm City Pearls Community Service Scholarship ($1,000.00)

o Must be a graduating senior, male or female
o Must have a minimum 2.8-3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
o Demonstrates leadership and service to the community (minimum of 150 community service and/or service learning documented hours)
o Accepted and enrolled into four-year college or university in Fall 2018

The Psi Phi Omega Anniversary Parkman, Ph.D. Book Scholarship ($500.00)

o Must be a graduating senior, male or female
o Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale
o Demonstrates commitment in pursuing education of higher learning and/or a trade
o Accepted and enrolled into a college/university or technical/trade career school in Fall 2018
